third rail jewelry:

On the Right Track

Most Chicagoans and New Yorkers grow up aware that the third rail of a subway track carries all the electricity and power that makes everything move. It also has an air of danger and risk, which attracts risk takers. In the same vein, the Third Rail brand of jewelry and accessories ignites the vibe of today’s youth culture.

Third Rail, the brainchild of Kelly “Risk” Gravel, grew out of a hardcore underground scene that stormed Los Angeles back in 1990. That is when Graval developed an international reputation as one of the most influential and revered graffiti artists on the west coast, receiving accolades for his edgy, fearless concrete, brick and mortar canvases (in the form of freeway overpasses and bridges). As his fame grew, he expanded his range by painting car doors and slabs of cement that were quickly snapped up by art collectors and set designers. Gravel’s work has been used in backdrops for the MTV Movie Awards, television shows, movies & commercials.

Gravel ventured further, printing T-shirts on top of a pinball machine in his one-bedroom studio apartment. The success of his first T-shirt design sparked the genesis of a million-dollar company and the now-famous Third Rail brand encompassing unique apparel for men and women that incorporates its roots into everyday life and all walks of life. Third Rail clothing is worn by millions worldwide, including celebrities such as (names here)

Now in its 10th year, Third Rail is forging a brand new addition – Third Rail Jewelry. No matter what walk of life you come from, there is no denying there is a certain allure to Gravel’s biker-chic style. It’s edgy and in-your face, but there is a certain gracefulness in its artistry. Gravel and his team Third Rail Jewelry are well aware of that, and have taken streetwise jewelry in a fresh new direction with great price points and individual pendants and pieces that can be mixed and matched to a given individual’s personal aesthetics. From a winsome Buddha, to a classic skull, to a fierce tattoo-inspired heart to a substantial cross, there is something for everybody who feels like wanting to show a little bit of attitude—or a lot, depending on how many you wear at a given time or how you mix it with other stuff you love. And to bring the whole package together, there’s the cool metallic Goth box each piece comes in.

This week ____, The Book LA brings “Street” and “Life” together for 2 lucky winners who will soon sport their own Third Rail necklace in their choice of the…. For more street smart looks, head on down to www.thirdrailjewelry.com or such boutiques as (names here..
