| Want Star Quality Hair? Get On the
B2V List!
Where West Hollywood and Beverly Hills meet, you will find a quaint
little cottage called B2V, where salon
business executive Alberto Borrelli
(the “B”) gets the word out while hair stylists “to
the stars” Kim Vo and Peter
Vandevelde (the 2 V’s) along with their skilled team
members work their magic on everything from color correction crises
to worth-the-investment cuts that transcend trends to really flatter
one’s face and frame.
The Vietnam-born, European-bred Vo first established himself in
the very competitive L.A. hair scene by strutting his stuff as a
colorist at Cristophe and Prive.
By 2001, he was ready to really make a name for himself via B2V.
Now a mainstay with celebrities (Tara
Reid, Jenny McCarthy, Heather
Tom and more), a makeover miracle worker on ABC-TV’s
Extreme Makeover and prized expert on hair color tapped by
E! Entertainment’s Style Network,
USA, TLC
and Lifetime, Vo’s
career has been (literally) colored by his innovative coloring techniques.
“I approach color the way a painter
does,” says Vo. “I
layer the colors, shade by shade on the head by lifting the hair,
piece by piece, and applying color accordingly. I always
make sure the result has a layered or dappled look, duplicating
that of a child's hair where a dominant color is intermingled with
subtle tones - highlights or lowlights depending on the base hue.”
One of Vo’s hallmarks is making the seeming impossible look
completely realistic. For example, he is
known for creating flattering blonde shades for Asian and olive-complected
women. Even with a routine touch up, such as covering roots and
livening up a nice every-day shade for a chestnut brunette or a
natural blonde, the results come out looking spectacular.
Recognized by L'Oreal as a master
colorist and International Guest Artist,
Vo has also developed his own collection of products for colored
hair, soon to be available nationally. "I plan to continue
to develop technologically advanced products that will create new
standards in consumer hair care," he affirms.
Peter Vandevelde, meanwhile, stays cutting edge with his signature
cutting, and particularly with his “free motion” cuts
and up-do’s which keep the salon’s phone’s ringing
non-stop during holiday and award show seasons.
This salon also boasts other sexy, upscale perks, such as complimentary
frothy cups of cappuccino and Belgian chocolates made for the salon,
manicure and pedicure services, Ionic hair straightening treatments,
stimulating scalp massage during your shampoo and a complimentary
deep conditioning oil treatment.
One lucky Book LA Reader will
receive a day of beauty, which includes cut, color and manicure
while another lucky winner will receive a special
package that includes Vo’s new take-home treats and
other fine products made especially for the salon. www.b2vsalon.com.
