Bringing Out Everybody’s Inner Biker

While luxury belts go with designer jeans like peanut butter and jelly (just ask anybody from club kids to high profile club promoters to ladies who lunch), accessories designer Goose Baltazar Duarte knows that flash and bling alone does not always result in a memorable signature style.

Though you will find Swarovski crystals, grommets and studs in his collection, as well as a surprising range of color (classic black and white, girly pink and baby blue hues, luxe gold and silver, and unexpected shades like olive green and coffee), what adds real street cred to Goose’s vision is the way the belts are distressed, giving them the look and feel of something that has been a part of your wardrobe since time began. While these belts look like they have been around the block a few times—for the maximum biker chic effect, Goose says that the way his signature style came about was no accident.

An enthusiast and avid racer of pre-1970 British Triumph bikes, Goose uses these vintage motorcycles as his muses. He got on the L.A. fashion map custom designing belts for The Sinners, a Southern California vintage motorcycle club, in 1999 when he met members at a motorcycle swap meet in Ventura, California. As he toured with bands of motorcycle clubs around the world, it was inevitable that these sexy, rough and ready cinches caught the eyes of other kinds of trend setters. However, even with fashionistas and Hollywood singing his praises, it is his passion for motorcycles and the lifestyle which inspire his collections. His ever-growing list of accessories is being ordered from shops and celebrities around the world.

Celebs who enjoy rocking out their ensembles with Baltazar’s range of colors, patterns and attitude include Gwen Stefani, Kelly Clarkson, Jessica Alba, Velvet Revolver axeman Duff McKagan who sports Baltazar guitar straps, Beck, Justin Timberlake, Madonna, Cameron Diaz, members of the Black Eyed Peas, Ashlee Simpson, The Donnas, Hilary Duff, Keith Richards and David Bowie. Baltazar belts and accessories are available at Jennifer Kaufman, or you can view the entire revved-up collection at www.baltazar.la

This week, two lucky reader will get their fall wardrobes revved up with a Baltazar Belt personally selectedby Goose Duarte himself!

Winners will be randomly selected and promptly notified June 11, 2005. US only. Rules
