Although Beverly Feldman made her first
“official” visit to Los Angeles on the heels of Mercedes-Benz
Los Angeles Fashion Week a short time ago, the 30-year veteran
shoe designer is no stranger to Hollywood’s footlights. In
fact, her feminine and elaborate shoes and accessories have graced
a variety of personalities ranging from Oprah
and the coveted O list, Joan
Lunden, to Angela Bassett,
Halle Berry, Angelina
Jolie, Kim Catrall and Paula
Abdul. However, as her spring visit to Nordstrom
Topanga and television appearances on The Insider,
Good Morning America and
TLC’s What
Not To Wear prove, she’s just as keen on empowering
women from all walks of life to express themselves more vividly
with her footwear.
Feldman’s motto is “too much
is not enough,” and that shows brilliantly through
the elaborate use of rhinestones, beads, metallic leathers, embroidery
and anything she can get her hands on that will make the wearer
feel that much more special and adorned. “I design with the
California customer in mind, because she is what my designs are
all about,” Feldman said knowingly, as she autographed soles
of newly purchased shoes. “It is a real treat to see some
of these customers first hand, trying on the shoes, and finding
the right pair that really makes their eyes light up and put a spring
in her steps.”
Speaking of Spring, some of her hottest styles on parade for 2006
include the African, Heroine,
Palm East (a playful mix of rhinestones
and tropical embroidery), Funtastic
(with a cascade of pearly discs), Sunscreen
(preppy wedges emblazoned with embroidered daisies) and Princessa
(a drop-dead sexy shoe dripping with crystal diamonds and pearls).
This is just the tip of the iceberg, with three namesake stores
(in New York, Ibiza
and St. Barth’s),
five licenses and distributors in 40 countries
around the globe. In addition to finding her shoes locally at Nordstrom’s,
you can shop on line at www.beverlyfeldmanshoes.com,
a side that captures the decadence and playful spirit of her acclaimed
stores.
