Individuals may have different tastes in indulgences, but most will agree a little bit of pampering goes a very long way. Entrepreneurs Wendy Viscuglia and Laura Albin, who come from the “opposites attract” school of friendship but share common experiences as busy Northern California moms, found that idea was something they could both agree on and built a fun, affordable collection of luxury skin care products around it. Albin, or “Jane,” describes herself as a spa newbie who power-shops through Target, packing her cart with giant bricks of soap and gallon size shampoo. Viscuglia, or “Chloe,” openly admits to enjoying life’s finer things, considers a day at the spa a basic necessity.
The line took shape, essentially, when the two moms and their alter egos put their heads together to come up with a simple, but clearly fun and entertaining concept—“bonding through grooming”—complete with three delightful and accessible spa-inspired fragrances (citrus chamomile, first bloom, and lavender sage) and a slew of pick-me-ups that include: Super Moisturizing Body Wash, Xtra Hydrating Wonder Lotion, Sugar Wonder Body Polish, Ultra Smooth Body Butter, and Super Amazing Hand Soap, all available at Sage (voted Best of the Bay for Home Accessories Boutique, Alamo, CA), Flaunt (voted Best of the East Bay for Fashion Boutique, Danville, CA), Marmalade (in Cow Hollow shopping area, San Francisco, CA), as well as their web site, www.chloeandjane.com.
Though the line was designed with women in mind, the duo found that since their December 2007 launch, what’s made for a woman is also appealing for a man. At this summer’s Style Lounge for the MTV Movie Awards (hosted by Kari Feinstein), they formally introduced Chloe & Jane to L.A., but were surprised to discover grooming-enlightened men were smitten with the bracing and refreshing citrus-based products.
This week, one lucky reader will receive a basket of refreshing wares from Chloe & Jane.
Winners will be randomly selected and notified June 16, 2008.
