While those sleek, little cell phones look great, and the ones that double as MP3 players are fun, the need for speed (in terms of communication and instant gratification) has become a fact of life. Hence the necessity for the smartphone, where texting can be achieved so much faster and easier than the fancy fingerwork needed to put together a sentence on most average cell phones.
Palm, the PDA innovator, showed just how cool practicality could be at On3’s Access Hollywood event for the 2008 Golden Globe Awards. While the reps were showing of the new, and more affordable Palm Centro which is compatible with Sprint and AT&T customers, the techies of the bunch fell in love with the Centro’s sharp, bold new colors in red, black, pink and white. Cooler still, a tattoo artist of sorts was on hand to personalize the celeb-gifted smartphones with initials and icons.
While the tattoo service may not yet be widely available, most people agree combining function and fashion is important, especially when you are going to use a smartphone everyday.
Palm products are available at www.palm.com, in addition to Sprint and AT&T stores around Los Angeles.
This week, a lucky reader with Sprint or AT&T will get themselves connected with a brand new Centro smartphone.
Winners will be randomly selected and notified March 3, 2008.
