These days, there’s a lot of talk about helping the environment by changing behaviors in our everyday life. One obvious wasteful thing everybody is guilty of is our reliance on paper, printing out too many things, taking brochures and press kits, then figuring out where to put them. While e-mail has solved the problem somewhat (with so many businesses signing off on their e-messages with a reminder not to print them if not necessary), there are still a lot of trees that need saving.
One great portable item that can at least help is the Planon DocuPen RC800 color handheld scanner. The little marvel, less than a foot long, achieves full color, 24-bit scanning and has the remarkable capability of storing 100's of pages into memory. Better still, the device scans a page in seconds. You even get a choice of how to scan full page documents--black and white, standard color or high 24bit color—and the desired resolution (from 100 to 400 dpi). The part that actually saves the trees is Paperport software (included with the Docupen) enables what goes into the pen to be routed direct to your home computer.
