Saint Grace and Gregory Quinn

A match made in cotton

Given that Quinn Thompson came of age upon a 84-foot schooner in Olympia, Washington, it is no surprise that his focus as a designer is on luxurious and simple cotton pieces that are just a little more special than “basic.” His ever-growing Saint Grace collection, which launched in Los Angeles in December 2001, offers a wide array of rich colors and surprisingly sophisticated twists that separate him from others producing premium-priced tee-jersey pieces.

“With L.A. as a fashion force, I wanted Saint Grace to add a bit of funky sophistication to women’s casual wear,” he notes. “I am a huge fan of vintage – from cars and motorcycles to T-shirts, so it makes sense for me to source soft, buttery fabrics to replicate soft jersey pieces that defined the 1970’s with a design philosophy that focuses on color, fit, and feel. Now that we have a niche, we have carried that philosophy to more fabrics and styles, with a definitive twist so no other brand has the same fabric, feel or attitude as ours.” A forthcoming wool jersey collection is exclusive to Saint Grace – the fit and style of which is unsurpassed. The new collection offers basic pieces made of jersey, modal, pointelle jersey, Supima® cotton and Egyptian cotton, and most recently, decadent cashmere. Devotees, not surprisingly, are young fashion icons who embrace the luxury and simplicity aspects--Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Simpson, and Lindsay Lohan among others.

However, why should have girls have all the fun? In answering that question, Thompson recently launched the simply stylish Gregory Quinn line www.gregoryquinn.com for men not only offering masculine variations of the soft and supple tees and jerseys, but also work-and-weekend ready button down shirts.

Saint Grace’s and Gregory Quinn’s modern basics that translate seamlessly from day to night in wrinkle free, lightweight fabrics, can be found nation wide at upscale boutiques like Lisa Kline and Fred Segal in Los Angeles and Barneys and Big Drop in New York City. They are also sold internationally in Switzerland, London, Japan, Dubai, and Canada.
